Specialist training for construction project delivery
PMI-CP is a certification developed specifically for professionals working in all physical projects. It focuses on the challenges of managing construction projects, with particular attention to contracts, stakeholder engagement, scope and governance.
As explained in PMI’s introduction to the programme, PMI-CP is developed in response to recurring challenges identified by construction professionals around the world. PMI worked with construction organisations and industry bodies, including the Construction Industry Institute and the Lean Construction Institute, to shape a programme grounded in the realities of construction project delivery.
In-depth follow up programme’s like Senior-CP or Digital-CP (co-developed by Oracle) will follow shortly.
Primaned Academy will offer training in the four foundational PMI-CP course modules, in multiple languages, on location across Europe:
-
Construction Project Communications
Build a clear communication strategy and plan for complex construction projects. Explore how to engage stakeholders, address resistance and keep project teams aligned.
-
Construction Interface Management
Coordinate communications, relationships and deliverables across project interfaces. Learn how interface tools and structured processes help align contractors, subcontractors and clients, improve visibility and manage risk.
-
Construction Scope and Change Order Management
Define project scope around clear business objectives and identify gaps before they affect delivery. Use structured scope management and change order processes to control changes and reduce disputes.
-
Construction Contract and Risk Management
Develop your understanding of construction contracts, delivery approaches and project risks. Explore risk assessment, claims prevention and dispute resolution to support better contract and risk decisions.
Training with Primaned Academy and certification through PMI
Completing the training with Primaned Academy provides access to the PMI-CP certification programme. Primaned will facilitate the certification exam, which will be conducted online (with strong terms and conditions) or physical examination locations across Europe.
Participants who would like to be certified must complete PMI’s required training and meet its experience requirements. PMI manages the certification process and awards the credential. Read PMI’s eligibility requirements.
For Primaned, this partnership complements its existing combination of consultancy, software, training and AI Data analysis expertise. It strengthens the support available to organisations that want to develop and recognise their teams’ capabilities alongside their Project Controls processes and systems.
Strengthening collaboration across complex projects
Construction projects bring together owners, clients, contractors, engineers and specialist suppliers, each with their own responsibilities and priorities. Effective delivery depends on how well these parties communicate, manage contractual obligations and respond to changes.
The PMI-CP programme also addresses a common development need: professionals may move into project management roles with strong technical expertise but limited formal training in managing projects. PMI-CP training is designed to help bridge that gap, with practical knowledge that participants can apply in their day-to-day work. This makes the learning relevant both to professionals taking on project management responsibilities and to experienced managers seeking to strengthen their approach.
A scope change, for example, can affect several disciplines, alter delivery commitments and introduce new risks. Managing its consequences requires a shared understanding of what has changed, who is responsible and which decisions are needed.
The partnership reflects Primaned’s emphasis on connecting people, processes and tools. Developing professional knowledge helps teams establish consistent ways of working and make better-informed decisions throughout a project.
Statements
Paul Vogels, CEO of Primaned:
“At Primaned Academy, we receive many questions about formal education in Project Controls. As a PMI Authorised Training Partner, we can respond to that need through a recognised training programme for construction and engineering professionals. The partnership between Primaned and PMI is an opportunity to raise awareness of project management as a profession and to raise the standard of practice. Many professionals grow into these roles through technical experience. Structured recognised professional education gives them a shared foundation, while accreditation and certification help make professional standards and expertise visible. The value of this partnership goes beyond offering a training course. It is a means to strengthen our profession, support the people working in it and give project management the recognition it deserves.”
Maarten van der Horst, Manager Primaned Academy:
“For us, the value of training becomes visible when participants can apply what they have learned in their own projects. With PMI-CP, we want to help construction and engineering professionals connect knowledge of contracts, risk and collaboration to the situations they face at work. As a PMI Authorized Training Partner, Primaned Academy brings the four foundational modules to professionals across Europe in English, Dutch, German and Spanish. We bring our Project Controls consulting experience into the classroom, connecting PMI concepts to real project challenges and situations from participants’ own work. Through instructor-led training and self-study, we help participants develop practical knowledge and prepare for the exam. Our aim is to help them build confidence in putting that knowledge into practice.”
The partnership marks a further step in Primaned’s commitment to professional development within the European Construction & Engineering sector.
